can any one help me,if it is possible to play older pc games? I am looking to play games of the day of DOS and windows 95. There is nice amount of classical games on these systems(monkey island) , and I wish to play them....personally there is a game that I always wanted to play and it is theme park.so is there a solution, or i have to buy an old system with old software? they dont run on xp?question of older pc games
You could try using a DOS emulator, I obviously can't link to it or discuss it further here because of the forum rules but a search will pick it up. I've used it for a couple of years now and it great although not all games work.question of older pc games

I can't imagine DOSbox being an issue here (unlike other illegal forms of emulation). While DOSbox is an emulator, it is not protected under the same statutes as videogame consoles, but we won't get in to that. DOSbox will probably work for your needs, but I find it hard to imagine you, or anyone else, not having an old rig and a Windows 95/98 install disc. If you don't, you can easily acquire both for less than $100. I got mine for $80 (my old rigs had been torn apart to supplement other computers). I actually have MS-DOS, trust me when I say that DOSbox is a woeful replacement.
If your going to play games like monkey island, get scummVM, it will let you run thoes games on any operating system, and even enhance the resolution.

Try DOSbox. It's well supported and the DOSbox website has plenty of useful info including a game compatability list, faq, forums etc.

DOSBox is great for the games it actually works with, but that's by far not all! Also it drains a lot more power than the game would require in its natural environment, just like with any emulator but it's taken to new heights here in some cases.It's the best you can get for your purpose, but it's not as great as some people seem to think it is. It has great support though as far as I know so it's supporting more and more games and it's supporting them better and better. They are not some shady braggy guys claiming to have a cure-it-all but they actually have a pretty accurate list of games on their website that lists which games run how well and which games are more problematic. So you can check right there whether it works with your game or not.And in the end: A slightly (!) glitchy emulation is still better than none at all.

Honestly, I can't believe that there hasn't been a single thread posted about the Mother series yet.... then again, it's not very popular. To some of you, you might not recognize a certain game if you call it Mother 2; but rather Earthbound. I personally think that this series has some sort of charm that draws you in... but considering the attention Nintendo has been giving this series, I don't think many people know about it. I've played Mother 1 and Mother 2.....Mother 1 was pretty average but 2 was legendary....just like System Shock 2 compared to System Shock 1.
Hehe, I loved 1. In all honesty, I like 2 the best, even moreso than 3.

It's nice to have the experience on the actual NES hardware, but as far as the game itself... It's not so great. Good but not great. I really liked EB growing up and after I imported and struggled through Mother 3 a couple of times, I fell in love. EarthBound NES just doesn't stand up to it's sequels. It's just very bland and very basic. If you've really never played any of the Mother games, don't judge them all on this one. The second and third are utterly fantastic games.

I'm finally coming out of my less than strict ''no-console'' gaming diet and started playing FFVII. This kind of got me thinking about other RPG's. I remember playing FFX-2 and hating 80% of the story, style and small irrelevant thing but REALLY loving the gameplay. So my question is: are there any legacy games out there that reflect the gameplay of FFX-2. If no one can come up with one, I'd be fine with hearing about any current-gen games.Legacy RPG's

Hi everyone! I've been looking for a good long epic game for ps2. I've just finished ZOE2 and I want moreeeeee!!! that game is amazing, but it's too short. Also I've played the whole Hack G.U. saga... so basically I'm looking for a mix between both.

I don't like those random turn-based combat games (FF and similars) And I'd already played God of War 1 and 2... so... any suggestions? PS2 Game suggestion... looking for EPIC

I think you would love Phantasy Star Universe series(2 games). They are action based like .hack but also have an awesome story.
the jak and daxter series epic stroyline lots of fights and jak defitintly evolves and so does daxter they are great all around:)

If you want a long game, then Okami (takes 30-40 hours), but otherwise, listen to what the others are saying (especially the good deal that is Metal Gear Solid Essentials)

Shadow of the Colossus is epic, but I didn't get much into it. A great game; a beautiful game; but not my type of game. I've never played Ico or God of War.I, along with everyone else, would like to suggest the Metal Gear Solid games. I dunno... to much G.I.Joe for me, it doesn't call my attention at all... guess I should try it though. Shadow of the Colossus is a great game (got stucked at the final colossus :( ) and Ico seems nice, but a bit repetitive. Phantasy star universe I started to play the 2nd game... bad idea I know, but although it seems... sorry, it IS pretty similar to .Hack I didn't liked the fights... doesnt' have too much action. I went to a thrift store to look at book (Yeah, I'm cheap) and I saw it right there with two controllers and a memory card for $14, and it was half price so I payed $7.
Where can I find games, and which ones would you recommend to me? I plan on ordering a few online, if not all.
I have my eye on. I'm not big on JRPGs or much of things with J in them.

Congrats! You just bought one of the best systems ever made! Ok. So, Crazy Taxi (good time challenge racer), Hydro Thunder (Good racer, even if you don't like boat racing), SHENMUE! A must have for ANY Dreamcast owner or Enthusiast. Omikron, if you can find it. A little weird but if you like experimental like games with good but twisted stories it's fun. Old school action game, not quite Tomb Raider. Blue Stinger, If you like Resident Evil you have GOT to get this game. WARNING: Very few copies made actually WORK, google Gamedude. They're like funco, they carry everything. Anyway, but this one from a gamedude, if it doesn't work you can return it. Infact game dude will ship to you if you live far enough away and will replace any non-working copies. Power Stone is a good one and if you can find it, D2. Very very cool game, a survival horror hunting game, yeah you read that right. You explore in 3rd person but combat is in a stand still FPS, you don't move just fight. It's a little like a RPG fight. You and baddies stand opposite each other and you select your gun and shoot'em as fast as you can. Aswell instead of health packs (which exsist but are rare) you have to hunt. Hunt deer, rabbits or whatever. Strip the meat and you have instant health packs! 3 Cds though, so prepare to put at least 25 hours into this one. Twisted story aswell. very dark. Another good 3rd person shoot'em up is Slave Zero, very cool. You play a very big robot thing, without saying much of the story not only can you slide and jump but you get big guns, big rockets and you can pick up cars and throw them at enemies... and you can even pick up people, they do no damage but have a very comical scream and red splat effect... Quake 3 Arena was pretty good on there too, I still own that. Oh and last but not least Sonic Adventure. Very cool, last good sonic made. DONT GET SONIC ADVENTURE 2. Very bad.

P.S- If you're looking for a extremly unique and rare gaming Gem, get 7th Cross Evolution. It's a story less RPG, you start as a one celled organism and have to eat and fight to evolve. The thing is you get a big block graph (about 250 block big I think) and using five colors (each color represents a attribute, Red Strength, blue spirit, white intellect you get the idea?) You actually have to scribble the colors together to design the different parts of your body (body, legs, head and arms). It's kinda hard to explain I'm sure it seems, but you can get it for like 5 bucks if you can find it and it's a true Gem. It's the precursor of sort to another big title in development. The combat is hack and slash, but old school so it's slow. but you can get all kinds of powers and weapons I hear, I never got a smart enough head to build weapons but I had some cool spells... seriously, just for the library, get it.
Add to my post, Sega Bass Fishing, the first one. I hate fishing games, but this one is awsome. Not only is it fun, but if you like to play games just to relax, it has some of the most amazing music and enviroment settings. Listening to it rain on the lake while the crickets chirp and listening to the lure splash into the water, you almost feel the cool breeze. Sounds corny I'm sure but the game is awsome to relax.

It sucked. Controls were terrible, the leveling up system was incomphrensible and seemingly random, the combat sucked, the graphics sucked, the sound sucked and it actually needed an entire VMU for just one save. And I wouldn't really call it the precursor to Spore. There were other evolution games before it such as E.V.O.: Search for Eden for the SNES (MUCH better game btw than 7th cross) and Cubivore for the GC. I mean, it was an interesting concept since evolution games are done so rarely but its easily the worst one out there and with Spore coming out there's really no reason to torture yourself by playing it.

The controller may not be anything revolutionary but the game is fun and the controller does add a tiny bit more to the experience :3 Sonic adventure is a good game while Sonic Adventure 2 is way better (but if your looking for a sonic game where sonic is the #1 charcter then look elsewhere). Tony Hawk pro skater 2, I love this game and I have spent at least a 150 hours with that game when I was younger. Like I am not a big fan for sports including snowboarding, skating, etc. But Tony hawk pro skater 2 drew me in and I had a great blast with it. There is lots to do and trying to unlock everything will keep you busy for hours on end. Can anyone say jump the hobo or have a blast in Skaterboard heaven?Even though it sucks up alot of memory (60 blocks)Metropolis street racer is pretty good IMO but I ONLY RECOMMEND it if you are a racer type person or fan of racing games. If your intrest is below average DO NOT waste your money. Since this is one of those hit or miss games IMO.
I want to try Tony Hawk Pro Skater, I used to play that on PS1 when I was younger and I remember the fun in it. :P I have Sonic 1 and 2 for Sega Genesis.
Is Power Stone the name of the survival horror hunting game? That sounds like a good mix of things.

i recommend soul caliber, DOA2, marvel vs capcom 1,2 shenmue 1,2 is a must (shenmue 2 is hard to find, I payed 70 bucks for mine copy on ebay, you would need to a boot disk to play it since it's the EU version), street fighter 2, ikaruga, power stone 1,2 gaunlet(spelling?) and skies of arcadia.I don't really like craxy taxi or sonic but those are supposed to be great games also.

I chose gta3 to help break up the monotony of rpgs i have been playing and its amazing to see how far its come(havent got to play gta4 so I am speaking of gta3 - gta SA). Some of the missions were still hard as hell lol.

That first mission for the yakuze to whack that mob boss that tried to kill you. That one took several tries lol.
THat mission where you have to save the crooked cop's army buddy with the one arm.
And then the final mission where you save maria. That one is the most frustrating because it takes so long to set up. I actually beat it early on but then I accidentally shot Maria(several times in the face) cuz I didnt know what was going on lol.

Luckily Just from screwing around I have found 50+ packages so I have body armor. But man some of these missions are still hard.=( I cant decide what to work on next. FFTA, FF12, or P3Fez. P3Fez is the only one I have beat. Stupid FF12 and FFTA have this extra crap I wanna do before I can feel like I have crushed them into the ground. Ok well off I go to try and save maria for the umpteenth time lol.......last time i busted through the first blockade at the damn and then lost control of the stupid yardie truck and drove off the edge and into the water lol. I had to play gta3 yet again(spoilers)
GTA3 is still a very tough game there's no doubt about that. :) I'm tempted to go and play it agin now though.

GTA4 has some hard moments later on, but the first four or five hours are really quite simple. My only gripe about GTA4 mission-wise is that there's too much vehicle chasing and I'm not very good at the driving, so chasing the people is tough at times.
Yeah I dont like car chases in GTA very much either but not because i suck at the driving part. They just make the target your suppose to chase like impossable to move or mess with. Trying to perform a PITT manuever always fails. You either slam their car to death which will most likely kill your car first or you pull up besides them and open up with your uzi. Not very exciting either way. If you could only shoot pistols out of the front of your car that would be pretty sweet. I think True Crime let you do that and it was pretty cool.
Gta 4 has some good missions (THe big gun fights)... As for GTA 3 I went are played threw it again on my 360 and it was amasing.. THe graphics were enhanced because of 360, it was incredible.. Like when you went threw the red light district it was bright the cars showed the reflection of the lights... Its a very great game..

The first mission for the Yakuza is actually pretty easy if you know what to do. Its an easy time if you just climb up to the roof across the street of Luigi's and snipe Salvatore when he gets out. And yes it is amazing how far the series has come since GTA3.
I dont think I had access to a sniper rifle during that part, I tried with an AK-47 but you cant aim those lol.

P.S can anyone here honestly say that they have flown that damn dodo airplane for more than 10 secs?? my record is 5, paper airplanes fly better.
Oh at a construction site?? If you go up in the adjacent building next to it you can kill some guys and get a machine gun and use it to snipe a couple of the guys in the maze. I didnt think of it at the time but I think molotov cocktails would work awesome. There is some armor and a molotov cocktail over at that college campus to. When I tried to just walk through it yeah there were guys standing above me around every corner, thanx to my armor and running as soon as I heard gunfire I managed to take everyone out and get through it. That is most definately NOT the hardest part of the game you should have kept going hehe.

Comparing processors is like apples and oranges....there are too many variables about what each can do and what the tasks are. Really the important thing is output.....like look at the PS3.....on paper the processor is killer, but actually using it for games has shown some problems. Graphically the PS3 barely matches the year older 360.Why? The 360's GPU is more powerful and it's more straightforward to work with. The theoretical power of the Cell hasn't proven all that useful. The Dreamcast had one of the last PowerVR GPU's, which was a pre-DirectX 3D card. The Processor was an off the shelf RISC processor. This doesn't compare directly with a PC running on a PowerVR chip (as alot do) though......just look at the games. The point being.....the DC was powerful enough for its time and look at a systems games rather then specs.

Jak and Daxter were great games with an annoying character, I think you know who I'm talking about. Daxter was annoying but thats what made him such a great character the fact that he would crack a joke every now and then for light hearted entertainment.

The Sega Nomad had an absolutely terrible battery life. Worse than the Game Gear. And I believe it took either 6 or 8 AA batteries. As for price, if you're in the US, I saw one in a local game shop selling for $79.99 + tax.

it's more of a collector's item than actually playing it because the battery life is terrible. Personally I would much rather just play the Genesis games on the TV.

So I have an Xbox 360. I play with all my friends who have them on live. COD4, R6V2, Gears, GTA etc, now I love Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. So this MGS4 80 gig bundle is tempting me and even more so is the Walmart one because I will get $100 gift card and I have a walmart credit card so i have 12 months to pay it off. Now the only other games im going to get for PS3 are exclusives, if its also on 360 and i want it im gunna get it for 360 because i like achievements and if its a multiplayer game theres no question ill get it for 360My friend is telling me its a bad idea to waste my money to get it for one or two games, basically MGS4 FF13's and a few other RPGsAny thoughts on what I should do? I recently picked up a Dreamcast, for some multiplayer and 2-d fighting nostalgia, and I've been trying to get some game for it So far I've gotten Sword of The Berserk, Grandia 2, Spawn, RE:CV and Marvel vs Capcom 2. I was offered Street Fighter 3 Third Strike for 35 bucks. I don;t really know the selling price for this title, and was wondering if anyone on here had an idea. Should I jump on this deal or what? yeah that sounds like a good price. if you ever arn't sure just check what things are going for on ebay. i won a dreamcast a few months back on ebay with 4 games and 3 controllers and a bunch of other things for like $40. one of the games was marvel vs capcom 2, but i already have that for ps2. i sold that game on ebay for $55! Now also if you do some internet searches you can find out a program to download and then you can download dreamcast turrents and download them right to a CDR! i did that and i have almost every single dreamcast game ever, including japanese ones. so yeah i would say sell it but check ebay first.Think this is worth it?

oh ok. well if you can go the ebay way, i just checked and you might be able to get it for around $20-$25. and also just incase you didnt know you can get the street fighter 2 anniversary collection for ps2 if u have that and it has 3rd strike on it. but id say if you'd rather not do the ebay thing that $35 isnt too bad for it

Over the course of the next few years I am going to go back and purchase all of the games I have either owned before that were great and also games I have rented and really enjoyed throughout my life. My goal is to build my own collection of personal favorites with a few reccomendations that the majority of people reccomend. This is my goal to do for however long it takes until I feel content with my collection. The first console I am going to collect for will be the Sony Playstation. This is one of my favorite consoles during my early teen years and I have great memories playing and completing the games listed below. I really cannot wait to start playing all of these games again. I will still continue to game in the current generation of consoles consistently, but I intend to purchase these games at the rate of one game per week. I will devote 2 hours a day for one 7 day week each and every week for each ''new'' game that I purchase. I intend to keep this thread updated as I purchase each game and I will log my time spent with each game while also reminiscing about great moments from the game with all of you. I will also be creating a new thread for each new console I decide to dig up so I can get all my fellow gamespotters opinions as I am very open to them.On 6/1/08 I purchased an authentic Sony 15 block Memory Card - Brand New. Cost, $ 12.00 + $2.99 S %26 HOn 6/1/08 I purchased Resident Evil: Directors Cut - Greatest Hits - Brand New. Cost, $10.99 + $3.99 S %26 HOn 6/5/08 I purchased Tekken - Greatest Hits - Brand New. I also loved the first Medal of Honor as it was inspiration for my to play all the later releases. Tenchu and Medievil I have heard great things about so I will add them to my list and give them a try. I am sure I will be pleased since you seem to have good taste. I never cared too much for Spyro, and Syphon Filter was decent as I gave it a rental back in the day and was just kind of ''meh'' about it. Thank you for your input man. *Update* 6/6/08 Last night I checked my mail after work and I recieved my brand new copy of Resident Evil: Directors Cut!. I was pretty excited so after I watched Semi-Pro, I popped it in for an hour and a half. I started with Chris in Arranged mode. I collected the first two mansion keys and then saved my game and got some sleep. I plan on putting in some good work on the game tonight since I have the weekend off. I am going to stick to my plan of playing each game for a week so that should allow me to at least complete Chris and Jill's Arranged modes. For those of you who don't know, Arranged mode was the new mode included in the Directors Cut that rearanged some of the puzzles and the location of the items. As far as I know, there are no other real differences. I could be wrong though.

I have both Fear Effect games on my list. Those games are real cool. Underrated tho.
I don't know how much you are into RPG's but if you are, I would highly recommend picking up Suikoden, and Suikoden 2, although Suikoden 2 will probably cost you in excess of $100 bucks. Both are amazing. I'd also suggest Tenchu and Brave Fencer Mushashi. Good luck building your collection!
Crash Team Racing is a must own. It is easily the greatest kart racer ever made by a mile. Also I'd reccomend Tomb Raider 1-4. The Last Revelation is my favourite game in the TR series(TR4).

Umm, besides what you've already got on your list, I can only recommend some personal favorites:Team Buddies: Cartoon strategy/war sim battle game. The humor and visuals almost reminds me of Conker's BFD. Clock Tower: You like RE games, you say? Pick this horror survival game up. Same vein as RE, but a little different gameplay.Azure Dreams: Dungeon exploring with pokemon type battles. When you spend the night in that city where the chocobos race,you know how you go on a date with one of the 2 women,well the person you go on a date with is determined by who you talk to more and who you use more in the game.My date ended up being Tifa.Well in the guide I have for FF7,it tells you that if you so wish, you can ignore both women and if you try hard enough,your date will be with Barrett. The pics in the guide were very creepy to say the least.
The date was supposed to be funny but imo the one between cloud and yuffie was funnier. But Tidus is much more girly than cloud.

Picked up the local trading paper today and saw an ad for a GBA. I called and they had a GBA in fairly good shape, carrying case, AC adapter, cable where you can hook up to 4 GBA's together, and 8 games. The games are as follows, Dragonball Z, Tak the great Juju Challenge, 007 Nightfire, Shamu's Deep sea adventures, The next 2 are Gameboy color games Rainbow six, Scooby doo classic creepy capers the last 2 are Gb games Space invaders and Turok2. I got it all for $35 so I think I did alright.Scored again today

I played it a month ago %26 finished the game yesterday. Before beating GTA3 though, i promised myself not to use any cheatcodes (you may not believe me but i never use any cheats in every video game that i played until recently) but the last main mission is extremely difficult!! You go to the colombian mansion, strip you with every best weapon you got, leave you an armor by the garage, chase the helicopter %26 pressures you with time limit. Whats worst is, you go to a dam with a very limited amount of ammo for the sniper rifle in the area against 20-30 pissed colobians and again with the freakin' chopper!sorry, this thread looks like a rant now, so i do apologize for this. anyone here beat the game without using any cheat? for me it is impossible to finish without it.BTW i did consult with FAQs but none of it worked (at least for me).anyone here finished GTA3 without using ...

Yeah. And also, the games are all better on the PC. Custom radio stations, better graphics, and better control.
i bet the game is WAY easier on the pc. I found the controlls pretty bad for the ps2. I never got close to finishing GTA III. but GTA: SA was pretty easy. I only had issues on the last mission really. the funny thing was i did not know it was the last mission, so i quit for a while, went back finished it and was all ''That was the end?''

I actually haven't played Grand Theft Auto III in years, but I'll admit right here that I never beat it; I don't think I even came close to beating it. It definitely was a difficult game, but I think the main reason I didn't beat it is because it really couldn't hold my attention. It would take a Scarface style storyline, more weapons, better graphics and of course, my personal favorite thing in GTA, the motorcycles to make me a believer when the sequel came out.
Wasnt there one of the previous games where it was impossible to get 100%?Like the game maxed out at 96% or something?In any event i completed all of them without cheating but couldnt get 100% on one of them if i recall.

I have beat gta 3 - SA without cheats. In GTA3 on that last mission I had already found 50 secret packages just from exploring myself(and my memory of finding them previously a long time ago). So I had a pistol, uzi, shotgun, grenades and an armor vest. And since your base in that area is along the same route as the shortcut to the Dam entrance I would goto the mansion and get mugged and escape, goto my base and gear up, and then storm the dam.

Really the only thing you need is armor after the mansion. If you take the time to pick up the weapons the guys at the dam drop you will be good to go. I used that sniper rifle to take out their snipers and the two guys at the second blockage(just past the sniper rifle). Then I run up and grab the two machine guns that get dropped which is very important. Machineguns can be aimed in FPS mode. So I then tap the shoot button to snipe everyone else with the machine gun. Then chopper takes off and a guy jumps in a truck and comes at you.

You can switch an uzi or ak-47 and take out the truck(the chopper usually helps take it out since its blowing up all those barrels?). Then I switch back to my machine gun and wait for the chopper to swing around and then i empty my machine gun into it(usually takes two passes, and yes I have enough ammo for that cuz i have good aim). Then I take out the last guy standing on a container right before the stairs. I got up the stairs with the machinegun(yup still have some ammo left) and I go up them just enough to snipe the two guys by Maria.

Then end. So I grab some armor, use the sniper rifle, use the machine gun, the end lol. As for the shortcut to the damn entrance. I dont know how everyone else does it but I take the S path back down to my base and then I exit my base and go right and then take one more right and then just drive over the ledge(which is right by the underground tunnel) and then I go up that road and to the right and there is the dam entrance. If you dont have to goto your base you can go down that S path until you see that parking lot on the right, Go into the parking lot and drive off that ledge and then up the road and to the right.

The only other path is to exit the mansion and goto the left and take that bumpy road behind all the mansions. I dont even fight the two guys at the first blockade anymore. I dont remember if they have machineguns or not. If they do then it would be worth it but i think they just have AK-47's which are useless. Machineguns = light blue bubble, ak's = purple bubbles.

Just make every effort to pick up machine guns and you will be good.

If you use cheat codes to solve problems you will not get any better. Now After I beat gta games it all depends on my mood, sometimes I load up on cheat codes and go berserk, mostly I just run around and caue havoc with whatever I can get myself.
It sounds weird to me to say that you beat a game ''without cheats'' because if you use cheats, you didn't really beat it, right?I mean, I haven't used a cheat code since I was like 13. I didn't think real gamers even thought about cheats.

[/QUOTE] Thank you, this is very comprehensive walkthrough. though i tried the secret packages thing, i ended up collecting only 32 packages (i got tired of finding it). so i got a pistol and a uzi at the base which also is the same weapons you get at the mansion from fallen enemies so i never bothered returning to the base. there is also a guide/FAQ which it says it is possible to run as fast as you can towards the military base at the previous island, buy off the machinegun, rocketlauncher, and head back towards the dam. I tried it twice but ended up with a time of a minute to fight off the final boss.Anyway, thanks for the tip! if i might replay this game, i may have to find much hidden packages as much as possible.

3 through 4 all without cheat codes on both PS2, Xbox and 360, not that hard.
yeah i have finished it heaps of times, GTA 3 was deffinately the hardest of the series though, but i felt it was the most rewarding, i mean you didnt see a sports car untill you got to the second island, or knew of the car showroom. maybe because i was the first one and no one had really seen anything like that it just seemed rewarding cause it was all new.
Yep, but I worked on secret packages when I couldn't finish the final mission the first time. Gradually getting more and more weapons and pickups near my hideout as Abandon said.Once that happened, it was just a matter of pacing myself at the dam. Not to mention, I played it on PC, so the controls were a lot tighter than a console.

I just bought the SNES version this past weekend. I used to play this game often at a friends house, glad I finally got my own copy.
I wasnt that great at it. It seems like I was stupid back then and am that much smarter now that I could probably kick that games butt but i dont know. I accidentally baught ''The beginning'' for the ps1 and I really hate it lol. It has horrable slow-down and the graphics just look like crap. I'd much rather own the first one. I'm jealous you got one hehehe. Who made the original populous?? There are so many deserving games to get updates. Populous would be pretty freaking low on my list.

just play through weapons master mode twice. you should have pretty much everything unlocked by the time you're through.

How many other games released about 15 years still have source ports modifications, levels, hacks and weapons designed today?How many others have a complete rewrite of the levels being worked on (FreeDOOM) or a substantial modification of game code (Doomsday, GZDOOM)? How many others have a small but significant Deathmatch community that remains and is gaining new players even today? This is amazing. Go to doomworld.com, look up zdoom, etc. and you'll find it. Look at the /newstuff Chronicles: New mods for Doom are still released today. Forums? Still active. Better Graphics? You better believe it! Certainly those graphics are almost Quake III quality- not much today but a big leap compared to DOOM I. And mapping possibilities compared to DOOM2.exe are massively improved too: EDGE and GZDOOM have amazing weapons support and scripts and modifications, :PRBOOM+ and most other source ports have removed limits and added new types of objects, GZDOOM allows for storyline with scripts, New weapons are stock in skulltag (Deathmatch DOOM) and new monster resource packs that you can add to your mod and use with GZDOOM are now available. DOOM may be old, but it still is a game with some fire beneath it. Doom is amazing

Id software hasnt represented itself very well. How could you have produced such a mega-hit and then fall off the face of the planet and let the series fade to nothingness??? So sad.
The original Doom is much better than any Doom game to come after it. Doom 3 tried desperately to be a halfway-decent remake, but it wasn't at all decent. Dark corridors and a graphics engine that was nearly impossible to run as of the game's release...what were they thinking?Quake is the far inferior Doom, although Quake got better with time while Doom got worse.

I own two Xbox consoles. One is an older one.. like v1.0 or v1.1 probably. The other is a v1.4, so kind of newer. Anyway.. with both of them, I have a weird.. issue.. not really sure to call it a problem. When I go to open the drive and there is no disc in the drive, they will not open. The newer one I have, you have to push the tray in sort of.. like give it a poke on the door, and it'll open (this is after pushing the open tray button). The other older one has the same problem... however to get it to open I have to give it a light love tap (closed fist heh) on the top of the system just above the drive. Now the weird thing, and this goes for both of them.. if there is a disc in the drive.. they both open up just fine never fail. Anyone experience this also,.. have any suggestions?Xbox: Anyone else have this issue?

Congrats on starting one of my all time fav games!!!

There are plenty of *cough* private severs around just google to find them. These should hold a number of missions that were both in the game and in some cases made up by the people who own the severs. Though if your offline mostly the missions are just an add on - the real meat and two veg of the game was to go through the main game levels forest e.t.c on easy then when you reach a certain level you unlocked medium for more exp and harder fights and the game repeated like that.

There is a big website dedicated to all things PSO just google it to find it and has loads of great info - good luck and I will warn you between the DC and GC versions I put in about 1000 hours into the game :)

I finally picked up a copy of the game at EB yesterday. I want the game to play offline with my friends again this summer like I did last year, but I've never created an account on Live, so one of my friends and I are going to finagle a way to get me able to play the offline version so I can actually get my character leveled up to a decent amount. I think he was around 70 or so (a Ranger) while my friends were over 80 (2 Hunters and 1 Force). I had never played the game before and I couldn't do as much as them as quickly...
Oh, man...good times. That game was so awesome online when it released. Dial up and no lag? Tremendous. And it's still fun (if tedious at times) offline. I still play it from time to time. Spread needle FTW.

The original XBOX's version of the game is backwards compatible for the 360 and includes both chapters 1 %26 2. I played the original for a short period. IMO, single player is repetative and grinding takes too long. Coop was fun for a while. Online would be great, but the content isn't worth the monthly fee.

I think the best version is the PC one, it was the last version created and has the most chapters... but for the console, the GC version of I%26II Plus should be your best bet

There is indeed an offline mode to PSO on the Xbox. It can be done by a single person or done withup to four people. And it is a lot of fun with the right people.Note that you have to have a GamerTag to play PSO on the Xbox at all, however.
I think there's a private server somewhere around, but I don't know where to find it. Probably a google search will yield something. As for AI teammates, they only appear in a select number of quests, and you can't hire any to join your party, sadly.

I'm thinking of getting a 1,019 block gamecube memory card but I'm not sure since I heard you can only hold X number of games on it. When you go to the memory card screen for a 59 block card theres a 4x4 grid of save files which are the games, now if you fill all 16 of thouse files with games is that all the card can hold or is there like a down arrow like on a PS2 memory card? trying to snipe things with a stuffed controller is pretty harsh (and hurts, which gaming shouldnt).and yes, that is bad practice from nintendo providing controllers that fault to whomever plays 64 games on a... i'd say monthly basis (not that i do anymore) but i guess we cant blame them now. just like you cant scream at those ghosts for eating you in pacman and not staying blue for long eough because the game was released in 83'... just one more dot namco just one and i'd be happy.

I know there are worst than what I have played, but the worst RPG I have had the misfortune to play is Time Stalkers for the Dreamcast.
This one's easier for me to answer than the 'best of' list.I wonder what it was that Konami was smoking when they put Ephemeral Fantasia out there to unsuspecting RPG'ers back in the PS2's early days. Graphically, it makes another PS2 action-RPG that was released around the same time, Dark Cloud, look graphically advanced. In their defense though, Fantasia was delayed numerous times (it was slated for at least two different consoles, but then they both fell out of favor with people), and they never bothered updating the graphics. They just continued work on it and released it.Even so, it's inexcuseable. Problem is, it has that irritating time loop. You miss an event on a certain day at a certain time.....too bad. Not to mention I found the setup for battles to be rather cumbersome and slow.
It also looks rather primitive in terms of graphics. It looks more like something that belonged on the N64 or something, not PS1 / PS2.Edit/Addition: Ah, and going back through the thread....I nearly forgot about Drakkhen, for which I played in its Infogrames/Kemco-Seika port for the SNES. It, Ys 3, Lagoon and FF IV (Easy) (aka: FF II U.S.) were the four earliest RPGs for the system, and having played all four, I can easily say it's the worst of them. The only thing I remember about that game is its music, which had the same MIDI sounds like those of the aformentioned Lagoon. Lacked the gameplay though. You set up your characters and then all you could do was move around (in first person) through some polygonal world. You had no control over battles. HIGHLY frustrating.

Of the ones I've played, Final Fantasy XII and Ys. Read my review of FF12 for that, and you know a game is bad when you can't pronounce the title. That's pissing you off before you even play the game. (That rule does not apply to games you know are not in your language (IE Japanese games)).

Crap I cant give an exact timelime but basically you wake up in a morgue, make it into a club, get drugged and wake up in a junkyard, escape only to find out you have a bomb inside your head, go and fight a vampire, and then off to fight a spirit and a dragon. You can recruit fellow runners to help out from trolls to dwarves to elves, you get various guns, you are also a magical shaman and gain a dog spirit, and you can go into the ''matrix'' to get info and money.

You threw me when you mentioned ''from the side''. That type of view is called 3 quarter view.
Definately Shadowrun. It's such a great game. I hope we get a real sequel one day and not some Microsoft TPS report. The Genesis Shadowrun was ok too, but it was a completely different game from the SNES one. The SNES one had a richer story and definately made it more of an RPG. I don't really know any other game like it.
Genesis Shadowrun > SNES Shadowrun. And there is no hope for any shadowrun sequels because Microsoft has the rights and they just made a stupid FPS shooter out of it.
Shadowun SNES was a great game. It took me forever to figure out how to beatthe vampire.

It was an RPG type game that I played on the Sega Channel as a kid. Early on in the game, your character finds a sword and it talks to him or something? Could also be there was a shining light and it leads to the sword. I know this sounds like the beginning of an SNES game but I played it on the Sega Channel so it was on the Genesis. I could be mixing up RPG's. You find the sword after falling off a cliff I think and there might be water, or you find it right under a cliff. You are also a young kid or at least a youth. Beyond that I don't really remember too much. Very vague I know but I would like to find this game. ANY help at all would be awesome! Any thoughts guys? Can you help me find the name of this RP ...

Jeanne De Arc for PSP. I was very surprised at how good this game came out. It's basically a cel shaded Shining Force. IMO it's more accessible then Final Fantasy Tactics.

Hmm... The only other possibility I can think of is that your Nintendo may be overclocked, and that could speed up the music in games. That's the thing with buying retro gear, if something weird happens then you don't always have the chance to get a refund or get it replaced. Early last year I'd bought an Xbox with dozens of cheap games and extra controllers. The console was brand new and I had over 50 games so even though the games were relatively cheap (? here, 10 there) it all added up and at the end it came to hundreds of pounds. I had it all less than a year and after a few months something weird kept happening with my analogue sticks. If I was walking as a character then it would suddenly slow down speed which was bad for time trials. In fps's sometimes turning left would turn at the normal speed and right would be slower, which was bad for online games like BF2. I tested everything I could to see what was causing it but I got nowhere. It happened with all three of my brand new sealed controllers in numerous games so it wasn't the games or the controllers. At the end I had to sell it all for much less than what I payed. I couldn't replace the console to see if it was that because no one sold them anymore by the time this all happened. But yeah, I do know what you're talking about with your game, it must do your head in considering it's an old Mario game in itself on the NES which could do your head in anyway with all the sfx. Who knows what's causing that...

2008.... Tiger Woods 08 (PC) is the best Tiger Woods game yet, and Madden 08 (also on PC for me) is absolutely incredible. I used to be a 2k Sports guy, but Madden 08 has finally won me over (and the fact that I have yet to play a 2k Sports game since NFL 2k that hasn't been so full of glitches that you can't even play it....I mean MLB 2k6 is great but I have yet to finish a season because I've had the game freeze on me late in the game for like 30 games....I quit after the last one the other day....It's bullcrap).EA ftw!

I Don't play RPG's at all. The only RPG's i've played are Xenogears and Legend Of Legaia both which I actually liked alot. But those were along time ago. There's a multitude of good RPGs out there. My first RPG was Final Fantasy VII, and I think most beginner RPG players start there because there's so much hype around the game. They were in the original Package. I think lost stock is probably what they are. Now if I could get the courage up to try and hook my genesis up to the heroic amount of cables coming from my TV, we might have somthing.
If u can find a copy i would very much recommend u get a copy of Streets of Rage 2, its a fantastic game with unbelievable music for a cartridge based game and is still highly playable even today.

I always used donkey kong because after eliminating the enemy one time, I used the trowing technique to take the enemy on my back and jump down with him on my back I was always the winner with 2,3 lives of difference(no wonder that all my friends never want to play this game with me)my favorite is captain falco, the worst fighter is jigglypuff

I mostly use Yoshi when it comes to Super Smash Brothers. I guess I thought Luigi seemed to be a sort of useless character in the original game, since he had the same moves as Mario except the coin jump effect. If it wasn't Luigi, I'd hate him. For Melee, I didn't like how Pichu was included and for Brawl I find Wolf as a useless addition to the roster.

My favorite to play with is either Kirby or Link, but my favorite game character is Mr. Game %26 Watch. He's hilariousI don't care too much for Ness, was never any good with him.

I was walking into a mall and i see on a videogame store a Nintendo GameCube platinum edition with two inalambric controls, a travel bag, all the connections and a 59 blocks memory card, all that at 125 dollars (i think, i have to made conversion since i'm from colombia). Ig you get a Wii, I would suggest wavebird controllers(especially if you put the Wii up on its stand). Well, I had high expectations, when I found out Rare was going to work on xbox exclusives titles I went through the roof. It would do the console great to have a few colourful titles, but the titles that Rare offered are rare, and not that innovative.
While talking about Rareware is a good topic, especially seeing the road they're now on, but for the Legacy board it's hard to talk about this without mentioning new Rare titles available for the current consoles, making this slightly off-topic. As such, this would be a perfect topic for the General Games Discussion or System Wars.

I have noticed online that quite a few people have said that they don't like Final Fantasy XII as much as the other ones, and some are even going as far to say that it ruined the series. I don't see how people can think this. In my opinion, FF12 is the best in the series. It has beautiful graphics, a great story, and I like how it's real-time battling instead of turn-based, which was one of the few things I disliked about past Final Fantasy games. I can see how people don't like it if they are a diehard fan of the series, and loved past games just the way they were, but games are about two things, in my mind: fun and innovation, which I believe are both exuberently shown in FFXII. The fun is shown in the amazing gameplay and huge living, breathing, colorful worlds. This games story had me captured more than any game since God of War. This games innovation is expressed in how the battles work, and I believe the team who worked on this game did an amazing job in how the Gambits and the License Board are incorporated into the game. I'm sorry about my lenghty rant, but I just would like to know what some other people's opinions are on this topic. Hopefully if enough people agree with me, future Final Fantasy games will continue to make more amazing games such as FFXII, improving even more on the series that has become one of the most famous series in gaming.What's the big deal?

I'm a fan of turn based battles. Why? Because its fun to relax while planning strategies and use different Materia/Elements to attack your opponents weaknesses while having time to think about your next move. In a way it's sort of like playing a Chess or Poker game. The Real-Time action in FF12 doesn't allow you to take your time and forces you to plan moves immediately. This method is not relaxing and goes against the formula of older RPGs. Its cool that they made a change to the classic formula but there is alot of room for improvement for FF13.
i HATED the storyline and the two children main characters (suprising, coming from the same guy that did Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics) but the game itself was extremely fun
The story was not very good imo, and most of the characters were blah. The greatness was the gambit system.
the only problem i had with it was its genre is a blur is it medeival or futuristic you really cant be both i mea nyou cant have flying vehicles and medeival weapons and the vehicles have guns too!
@ GatCloudX, I personally loved the mix of medival and futuristic things and ideas. It made it seem more like a completely new world than any of us had played in before. I mean, come on, we've all seen and/or played games set in midevil times and those set in the future or in a different dimension, but this game really tried to blend those two together to make something completely new and unique, and it worked out quite well. Plus, if you really think about it, just because technology advances, it doesn't mean that weaponry of any place necessarily has to evolve also. Maybe this world of Ivalice is more peaceful and was like that when the world was developing, instead of revolving around war, such as our world did. Also, if you look at some past Final Fantasy games, such as VIII or X, you will notice that those also combine technology, such as airships and machina, respectively. But those games also have a great amount of midevil and fantasy aspects too, like weapons such as swords, and magic. Final Fantasy XII and its mix of midevil and futuristic aspects made the game soar, in my opinion, and it really seemed as if you were playing a completely new game, instead of a rehash of the same old story that has been done many times already. Oh man this game is pretty tight. If I had the extra cash I would definately buy it asap. Sadly I never got to play Ultimate Destruction so I couldnt say which is better or even compare them. When I finally wanted to rent it the disc was horrably scratched =(. The User Interface is utter crap, the jumping mechanics are kind of messed up, rage powers are unnecessarily difficult to activate, but man oh man I am digging the gameplay. It is free roam. Really lame weak randomy enemy fights happen which is disappointing BUT you can also get into the fight with the military and those are way more fun and they dont stop coming! And best of all when you are ready to disengage from the carnage all you have to do is go for a subway ride. That right there is like perfect balance. In Ultimate Spiderman when you go balistic with Venom there isnt really a way to disengage....maybe there was, i forget. They were smart and ripped off the checkpoint races from spiderman too. There are other minigames to like trashing buildings or certain vehichles. After I brought up Ultimate Spiderman I almost instantly had a sad thought. I dont think you can make the Hulk roar in this game like you could Venom in US. That really makes me sad. He never does it after wiping out buildings or killing people either.. Hmmm i will have to look into that. As you might expect the graphics arent as nice as they could be since its just a downgrade for the ps2 but whoop t do. The audio tracks also blow. You know those games where they have seperate audio tracks and then just overlay them into the game and you can barely hear them, and the freaking subtext just whizzes by. But its nice because it puts you into the Hulk frame of mind, goto objective and crush/kill and maim stuff!!! hehehe. The variety of moves you have is decent. One thing I like about the combat mechanics is that you can charge up an attack at any time even during combo's. Marvel tends to be a sissy touchy feely Corporation with its material. The game could have really benefitted from some blood and guts. I love grabbing people and then doing a normal charged up punch, you would think you would rip the person's upper torso off or something. Or when you smash people into the ground it would just leave a blood splat. bahaha It would be cool if you could leave blood splats on the sides of buildings to. But nooooo. Blood and guts is ''wrong''. Marvel only believes in xena/hercules violence where you never see blood and guts even though people are swinging swords and weapons around.Another slight issue I have is that if you are swinging a giant pole of some sort and there is like a wave of stuff in front of you then you only hit the thing in front, I think it would have been alot more satisfying if the pole would ''pass through'' stuff and kill everything in its radius. But holy crap I can barely stop playing this game lol. I even want to waste time and get gold medals on the races and I hated those in spiderman games as spiderman or Venom!.The Incredible Hulk(ps2)

I haven't played that one but based on your description of it, it does sound fun. It's too bad that you never played Ultimate Destruction. You should really get that game at all costs, it's just a blast to play. Please get that game.
Well its buggy. I just had my first game freeze. I wasnt because of graphics because I wasnt doing any fighting or destruction. It happened during one of those random enemy battles. They cause and alert to pop up. It popped up while I was in the middle of a jump.
Well it has not locked up me again, so whatever. Sometimes when your moving the camera it gets glitchy. A bunch of games I have played do the same thing. As you move the camera like half the screen moves and the other half doesnt for a split second. It happened in Iron Man.

This game has another cool feature. The game takes place in New York and there are subway entrances all over the place. Its cool because all you do is walk up to one and hit a button and then you can warp to other places in the city. Another cool thing about it is that you can only warp to subway entrance you FIND. They are not marked(until you find them). Its really cool. And as much fun as it is to smash your way through the city on your way to the next mission I find that subways ROCK because your clear across town instantly.

Besides ditching the army with subway rides I also found out its a great way to save your game if your hunting down ''Hidden Packages''. You just go for a ride and then it autosaves afterwards. Although the dumb game has autosave it doesnt bother to use it for finding secret packages, so I lost a couple of thing when the game froze.

Man I hope the ps3/360 versions arent as glitchy as this. I think its the audio tracks that are messing with the game.

Today after I had got into alot of fights and stuff or did some missions the game started making my controller vibrate when nothing was going on, atleast nothing i could see. It would randomly vibrate and for a really long period of time but a save%26quit fixed that. Just now I finished a mission and it locked up again, before it got to save. Thats the only good thing atleast if your doing any type of mission it autosaves afterwards so you never lose much progress unless you were out hunting down secret packages.

I found out that if you unlock a secret character they are like costumes and you can change into that character and play as them. I only have one unlocked though so I dont know if any of the others have different attacks. I highly doubt it.

I have an untested theory about the subways. If you open your map the city is divided into area's. I am thinking there is one subway station for each area and one only.

Hunting down secret packages is pretty fun. tip #1 is to stand on rooftops and look around, there is fog but secret packages stand out from the fog at extreme distances. tip #2 is to listen! Packages gives off a hum. The closer you are the louder it gets. Turn the music off/down though so you dont mistake the music for a package. There is like 200 packages and I have only found half or a little less than half. You tend to hang out in certain parts of town, or atleast I do.

Ok break time is over, back to the game, I dare it to lock up on me again!!! It wouldnt like me when im angry lol.
Man my favorite thing to do in Spiderman/Hulk is to chuck bad guys off roofs in new york city!!!

This game has some problems but it has CRAPLOADS of replay value over ANY of the spiderman games. Not only that but they have destructable buildings, a teleport system, awesome random battle mechanics. Whatever flaws it has are easily dwarfed by the cool things they did with thisgame. I mean for god's sake you can stick a bus into the side of a building!!!! I am floored.

Memory Card Help Please!!!!!

My PS1 memory card has seemingly cra*ped out on me. My PS2 will not read my PS1 memory cards though when i put them into my PS1 it seems they read them fine although all data has been erased. So you know how some games require the expansion pak such as Donkey Kong 64, I need to take out the jumper pak and place the expansion pak in, obviuosly, but if I want to play a game that doesn't require it, do I need to keep switching between the jumper and expansion pak or can I leave the expansion pak in for every game? I just started playing Baten Kaitos. I'm about 2 hours into the game and I think I understand everything... except the camera.I mean, I understand how to take pictures (I think, anyway), but I can't figure out how to sell them. I also can't find anything about pictures in the camp menu. I'm just assuming that there is something in the menu so you can see what you've taken pictures of.So, can anyone help me here? i have a ? about mgs 3 that comes with the essential collection when i boot the game up it says metal gear solid 3 subsistence and that is obviously the name given to the special edition of mgs3 snake eater and it also says disc one but thats the only disc that comes with the package for that game i was wondering is their anthing special about that game in the first disk of subsistance or is it all on the second disk????? thanksmgs essential collection question

The Essentials Collection doesn't include the second disc of MGS3:S for some reason, so you'll miss out on some of the bonus content. :cry:
I think the second is multiplayer portion, so you're good because they closed the servers down last year anyways.
The second disc also included Metal Gear 1 and 2, ''Secret Theatre Mode'', and the online multiplayer, which was shut down some time ago.

Far Cry has this option, but I really loved the Timesplitters map maker.
Pariah on xbox. Timesplitters map maker is hella cool, You get to put in lights in every section of your map and they can be any color and they can strobe or flicker and you can control how fast or slow they do it. If my bullets dont kill you the seizures my map induces will!! bahahaha.

I think the only ones are Timesplitters FP, Pariah, and Far Cry. I have all of these games but Timesplitters has the best.
The only game I can think of is Time Splinters but most games on the PC have in depth and very complex, almost professional map makers. They are hard to use but if you really want to put your creativity to work and you have the patients and time to learn how to use them, you are only limited by your imagination. If you have a good Pc you can try the map maker in Crysis, its a bit hard in the begining but you will get used to it, and you can see video tutorials in Youtube by a gut with a nickname of ''Xantachori'', he teaches very well

With the release of NG2 i found myself wanting to play NG again but i don't have my xbox or copy of the original. It has come to my attention that you can download ninja gaiden black from the market place but I don't actually know much about the game. Yeah, it's basically the original game, but it adds new modes, one new weapon, enemies, etc. I would recommend buying it off the Marketplace, since everywhere I looked, stores were selling Ninja Gaiden: Black for $30+.

actually NG Black is an edition of NG that included some things like allowing you to control the camera with the right stick in normal story mode. You can download a few portions that make NG almost the same as NGB. The major difference is NGB can be easier since they added the ''dog'' difficulty level. So lets say that you play the game on normal, u die a bunch of times. It will then give you the option to lower the difficulty to dog. NG does not have that option, but big deal. Personally i would recommend you buy a HARD copy of Ninja Gaiden. I've heard the Xbox original downloads have some technical issues, and i bet you can find a copy of Ninja Gaiden for like $15 used. I payed $17 for my copy at Blockbuster over 2 yrs ago. NGB should be selling for $20 or so used. call gamestop, gamecrazy, and other similar stores. for example u can get NG online from gamestop for $10 + shipping http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=22097and then you just put in the game in, go to downloads, get the hurricane packs and you basically have the content on your HDD that comes on the NG black disc. and another difference is you can unlock the NES version of NG on the first version, then on the NGB you can unlock the arcade version of NG....so i hear. i havent beat NG , probably never will, cuz its just that hard, so i dont know for sure.

On Normal Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black are the same game except for the new weapon. It's once you start playing on Hard and above that Ninja Gaiden Black becomes harder than Ninja Gaiden.

I dont know about the ability to skip movies but the only vehicle you get to drive is your UFO. You can tractor beam other vehicles and drag them around though =PDAH is an awesome free roam series but sadly the first two do not have much replay value. You can't get into any random battles and then disengage, and there are no meaningless random missions you can do or even replay missions whenever you want. I wont get the chance to play big willy for the wii but in that one you get to drive a giant burger boy statue from a fast food resteraunt lol. Destroy All Humans 2 Xbox Question....PL ...
You can skip the cut scenes in Destroy All Humans, but they are very well done for a video game. I'm not a big fan of cut scenes either btw - Metal Gear cut scenes make me want to rip my eyes out. DaH's scenes were actually very impressive, the more I think back. They managed to be short and concise while paying a great homage to old sci-fi / B-movie films (from Plan 9 to The Day the Earth Stood Still) %26 50/60's Americana. They also used the Alien Invasion %26 mind reading in the 50/60's era America elements to make nuanced political statements, even mentioning the Project for the New American Century by name at one point. Moments like that, in the first game, will probably fly over most people's head (PNAC is the group that gave George Bush the 'wonderful' idea for the Iraq War, FWIW), but it's wit you rarely ever see in a light hearted video game like this. Also, the main character of the game sounds exactly like Jack Nicholson, which earns it points in my book.

I am selling my extra copy of Zelda OoT, and I had a unusual request on ebay. They want to know the 2 lined code at the bottom of the front of the cart under the Nintendo logo. What does that symbolize? My only guesses are that Nintendo put them on there for piracy reasons or Nintendo put them on carts to tell apart normal and special editions of games. I thought the last boss in Onimusha 3 was pretty weak, i got to the finish and it took little to no effort on my part to finish him, i thought the last boss in the previous game was A LOT harder it killed me like 4 times b4 i could finish with 2 milimeters of life left.@Krufu2: i agree with nVidiaGaMer, each and every boss battle in the GoW games were nothing short of epic, so what if u had to use a different sword to fight Ares? it was a lot of fun and somewhat easy, i thought the final boss battle in GoW was more challenging and fun too ^^.

My vote goes to the final boss from Resident Evil 4. I just found him not challenging at all or even cool looking. Some of the other bosses in the game made me jump and I enjoyed the intensity of the fights. The last boss fight was a big letdown for me.
I didn't like the ending boss' for FFIV or IX, they should've ended with you fighitng Zemus and Kuja...not some other bosses that were either not mentioned or hardly mentioned at all.
In the game based on the latest superman movie, the last boss was a ****ing tornado. BEAT THAT!
The last bosses in MGS2 and 3... they were cool characters, but the fights were frustrating.EDIT: Oh and the last boss in Paper Mario TTYD... that was just lame sauce all around. It totally killed the lighthearted mood of the game, and was just plain annoying.
I gotta say Solidus from MGS2. I mean, it was okay, but the fight/ending that was originally suppose to happen before they did some last minute changes (Due to the 9/11 attacks) seemed so awesome. But in terms of worst last boss, I would have to say the last boss in Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), he was real easy, but hey, I wasn't complaining.

Hargon from Dragon Quest 2. He casts heal-all on himself intermittently throughout the battle so the only way to beat him was to get about 5-6 critical hits consecutively. and I believe the percentage of getting even 2 crits in a row was maybe 10%. Let alone 5 or so.

Ok, as an adaptation SMB sucks, yes. But judged as a movie it's watchable. I was flipping through the channels the other day and noticed that Street Fighter was on so I watched it. I do have to say that it is, by far, the worst video game movie. But Raul Julia as Bison? Best. Casting. Choice. Ever.
Street Fighter was really bad. Casting Jean-Claudde Vann Damme as Guile and Raul Julia as M.Bison was a disaster waiting to unfold. The story was off by a mile(Charlie as Blanka...i mean come on) and the acting plainly sucked. Also Super Mario Bros was probably worse though. Also up there is Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark

Resident Evil. Its the worst simply because it actually had potential. All the other ones that were terrible would have been terrible regardless. Super Mario Bros......some movies mentioned earlier still have redeeming entertainment value...Mortal Kombat was actually a pretty good movie i thought, for a corny kung fu rip off....Resident Evil if it weren't based off a franchise and compared to it, was a rather entertaining zombie shoot' em up...and as much as people hate him, I love Uwe Boll and his skill to just make the most awful movies, and casting choices (Tara Reid as scientist)...but Super Mario Bros. had some of the most pain stakingly acting ever..the action scenes were something out of a bad power rangers episode...and none of the character re-creations were done right

Most levels are cramped and extremely linear, even the 'outdoor' ones....but leave the option to shoot your way out of it. I've played through Metal Gear - Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops again over the past two months in anticipation. I didn't get to finish Portable Ops before I picked up the bundle though.You don't HAVE to get MGS 3: Subsistence to play Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX/MSX-2 (the NES version of Metal Gear does NOT compare...). All it takes is a bit of wit, you know? So.....just understand that there has been a thriving community surrounding Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, and Policenauts for some time.

I mean, I liked VC a lot, and I prefer it second, but III was just better for me for some reason. SA is okay, and there are a lot of things to do, but for some reason I don't care for it as well.
I'd choose the original GTA 3. You should be able to find all of them at a cheap price now.
My favorite is Grand Theft Auto Vice City because of the time the game takes place in, and how the environments and levels and missions are designed
san andreas has better physics. i have played gta3 and the tires dont blow up when i shoot them.

I liked Vice City the best, closely followed by GTAIII. Vice City's 80s setting was a prefect fit for that sort of crime game IMO. I never liked San Andreas. It was the first of a trend of 'urban' crime games with all the ghetto culture and I just hate that sort of thing. The mostly hip-hop/rap soundtrack didn't help either >_>.

I am like most people, I loved GTA III, VC, and then SA. After playing SA, i could not go back to playing gtaIII again. The gameplay is just so much better on San Andreas. and I'm big on flying, skydiving, and other various things in San Andreas that no other game really offers.to make it short. San Andreas is the best GTA game. No doubt in my mind. And now Saints Row2 (xbox360) is going to be alot like it.

i loved vice city. I was born in 82 so i have some memories of exactly what the 80's were like. I remember a lot of the songs on the soundtrack and the whole theme in general. The setting to vice city is just second to none imo. However, the gameplay of san andreas, like others have said, is just far superior to the other 2. I really want to get back into the MGS series before I go out and get a PS3 and I have never played MGS2 and MGS3.Can someone tell me roughly how long these games are?MGS2 +3 length
Roughly 10 hours each if you watch all the cutscenes.AND YOU SHOULD.Play MGS1 too, It's a plot that strethces across all the games, and some things will make no sense.MGS2 +3 length
to really enjoy the game you need about 20 hours each, plus retries and if you going for mgs1 it will only take about 5 hours no need to save also can .LOL
15 hours each. That breaks down to 5 hours of gameplay and 10 hours of cut scenes, where the goal is to avoid ripping your eyes out to avoid the incomprehensible insanity that the MGS cut scenes are.
on my first time to play, my game time is 9hrs+ on mgs2, and 16hrs+ on mgs3.
it really does depend on the player himself. If your good and can solve average puzzles fast and willw atch all the cutscenes. Expect about 12-16 hours for MGS2 your first time in and MGS3 me and my friends sat down and beat it in one sitting which took us about 13 hours so if your playing by yourself I would guess maybe about 14-18 horus for MGS3 your first time around. But if you read FAQ's or guides expect to cut about 2-6 hours off each of those times.
If I just blew up the harrier in MGS2 and then the Metal Gear pops out the water, how far away am I from beating the game..?

E.T. was a good game, they could use it to fill up the highways, that's what I call proper usage of crap!

I remember when the PS2 was about to be launched, and this was one of the games I kept seeing reviews/previews for in magazines. It looked pretty cool, and I was thinking it would be like a more advanced Punch-Out. Man was I wrong. This game was a shallow button-masher and was not fun at all. The only cool parts were that you could unlock Shaq, Michael Jackson, and Bill and Hillary Clinton. That surprised me, but still did not make the game any fun.
Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly for the GameCube gave me headaches while playing it, so I stopped after playing the first few levels. It's a shame that Insomniac Games was limited to making only the original trilogy, since those were three fantastic games.

Ok...Well, I met up with kyle again after the suck alot boss, and then we went through the sewers and all that. Unfortunately I did not go through the moon gate with him. I went in an elevator and we split up there. Now I have no idea what to do in the game since all the FAQs I see only has the ones with kyle and the moongate. There's also a computer that requires a password. I'm a big collector of old games and I was wondering if anyone would think it would be worth the price to get a power glove or virtual boy as a collectorcollecting prices worth it?
I would love to get my grbby paws on them at least once to see what they were like. But for lasting value to keep playing them I don't think so. In my collection I mainly buy stuff I know I will play with every so often. I would love to get both of those things eventually to try them out and play with them. As a collector, most definately! I am sneaking up on owning 1,000 games, more than half of which are old school games! I would love a power glove, and a virtual boy! I would probably never use the VB simply because of the fact I hear it screws with your eyes, but the glove would be cool! Anyways, when you say you are a collector, that means you should collect what makes you happy whether or not you use them or not! As a fellow collector I think both pieces are awesome, and eventually I will own them both as well! So, my answer is go for it!

Hmm, funny to see both sides of this. On one hand yes it would be worth it, if it was something you really really wanted, sure, but you have to be within reason. Would I ever pay 100 bucks for a game I could get an emulator for? Not a chance!! If it was something I was dying to try out and couldn't get any other way (like a virtual boy) mabey. The problem though is that so many people are out there that are willing to pay stupid prices for games just because they want to stick it on a shelf. All that does is rob the other guys out there (like me) who can't afford many of the rare games because the demand is so high for false reasons.
I own a virtual boy. I actually got it for my birthday when I was much younger. Personally, I thought all the whining about headaches and eyesores was blown way out of proportion. It's actually a pretty good piece of hardware, but the problem was that there was literally only about a dozen games released for it, and only half of those were actually any good. The virtual boy is a very rare item because of how poorly it sold. But it really doesn't have the software to make it something you'll want to play a lot.
I've seen Virtual Boys for as low as $15-$40. Virtual Boy games are what are expensive and collectible. Power Gloves are a joke...and I like R.O.B.

Well before this all blew up, I kind of get what YourChaosIsntMe is saying. A lot of times when something becomes super-collectible, the price starts to really outweigh the fun you can have with it. For example, when Playstation games are worth a ton more when they're not the greatest hits version. IMO, anybody who cares enough to pay more than like $5 more is into gaming for the wrong reasons and also most likely a moron. Or some Saturn games, yikes! It's the same situation with the Virtual Boy, kind of. Like, it's more money than its worth. On the other hand, I guess I've bought expensive Saturn games, played them, and then once I was done re-sold them for about the same price. You just have to take care of it. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people do this, so you could do it with a Virtual Boy for sure.Buy it, play it... feel the suck, then sell it to some other poor misguided SOB.

Sure, for people who either aren't serious collectors or just looking for a gaming item that will be countless hours of fun, some items are way overpriced! Thing is though, like you said, if that is the average going price, then you can always sell it back if you don't like it! Items that have gone up in value rarely tend to decrease in value after going up. So, in a way if you find good deals on certain gaming items you can always buy them to make a profit selling them! Is this wrong? No, not at all! The reason older games and peripherals go up in price is because they get increasingly rarer and harder to find! The original question asked if he should get them, and he added he thought they would be a great conversation piece! To me that sounds like he is a collector, and it is perfectly fine to add them whether he is looking for a ton of fun or just bragging rights, or whatever for that case. For collecting purposes alone, I would suggest both! Now if you want to talk practicality that's a whole other ballgame! It shouldn't matter how many games, systems, or extra peripherals you own, all that matters is what makes you happy and if you can keep it within your budget! So, if collecting books, wine, baseball cards, coins, etc. is your cup of tea so to speak I suggest just keeping it within limits, and have fun!

I would only get the powerglove if you wanna wear it while you go skiing or something. its not like its really a functional controller. the powerglove was a joke.....and theres a reason nobody has even attempted to copy it...... the virtualboy might be a fun gadget if you can find it really cheap. but I know i played one once and thought it was neat, but not that great. Personally i'd keep your Xbox and not waste $ on either a virtual boy or a powerglove.......

There are some great ones in there like NFL Blitz, Oddworld, and Hydro Thunder. There are a bunch of mediocre ones in there as well, though if you only paid $10 for all of them then it isn't a bad deal I believe.
Legend of Dragoon is a great, and lengthy, game. bushido blade 2 is a good fighting game too.
Twenty Playstation 1 games for $10.00 works out to 0.50 a game. Did they at least come with original CD case/instuction manuals?The games may not be the greatest but for 10 bucks. you can't complain to much.
Fighting Force and NFL Blitz are awesome.

Wow I dont care what anyone says I am loving all these super hero games. Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man. Superman looked like a stupid movie so I never watched it and never even looked at the video game but.....considering how much I like all these other superhero games I would probably like it. What did you think of the superman game? Does it have free roam like all the other superhero games? I heard people say it has controls similar to Iron Man which i liked... I guess I just want to be reassured its not utter and complete garbage. Should I give Superman(ps2) a try??

I don't know. I haven't played any Superman games. I do know that I like Ultimate Spiderman and Hulk Ultimate Destruction. The movie (Superman Returns) was stupid but that's coming from a Superman purist. If you've enjoyed games that are based on superheroes in spite of bad reviews then you should just trust your instincts and go with it.

Ewwwwww you guys were right lol. Superman sucks!! Apparently Megavideogame doesnt know what the hell free roam is because yes in fact it is free roam. I saw another idiot on Iron Man say it had the same controls as superman and no it does not. In Iron Man you can rise and fall, In superman the only way you can change your elevation is by steering up or down like a plane or by dropping like a rock.

I dont like how fast you move around when you use the speed button. I think the scale of the city is to small. The combo's felt slow and clunky to. I didnt like the fact that the stupid city gets damaged. That game just totally sucks. It looks like it was made for the N64 or something lol.

I wish they would make a superman and batman game with the Havok engine because they could be really awesome. I got to go look up who did superman so I can make fun of them .

Genesis Help!!!!!

We have just purchased an original model Genesis but there is a problem with it, when plugged in with game inserted no picture comes up the screen just is split in 2, horizontaly, the colors are black and whitish gray. It sounds like a bad connection between the cartrige and the console. Check with other games, if it happens the same, maybe the cartrige slot pins are dirty, clean them up the following way. Use a credit card or other kind of plastic card and fold cofee filter paper over it, spray rubbing alcohol on the paper and insert it on the cartrige bay carefully, repeat this several times and let the alcohol evaporate before turning the console on. Also, clean the cartriges pins with a cotton swab and alcohol as well. Let everything dry and try it out. If the problem persist then it might something more serious. Go to Gamefaqs.com and look for hardware faqs on the Genesis section for further info.
i would guess its a connection issue to the TV or the back of the genesis. make sure you are using the correct power supply, the correct a/v hookups, and the game is clean. I have had my genesis since like 1993, and i've never had that problem. The issues ive had were due to the connection being bad in the back of the genesis or 32x most the time. Those little 9pin connectors can be tricky. but if you wiggle them til the connection is good, it usually fixes it.goodluck.

I agree that SF2 Turbo is the best game for the series on the SNES, and I would also go with SF2 out of the 3, because it is an all time classic!!! It introduces most of the legendary characters, and pretty much started a gaming revolution! Now, on the other hand, if you are looking for pure fun, I would go with Alpha 2, because it is much faster paced and the super moves are pretty sweet! SF2= timeless classic that started a gaming revolution SFA2= pure fun fast paced fighter with a sweet set of new moves! So, at least I narrowed it down to those 2! I have both games, and both are great!
I'd defo keep SF Alpha 2 coz its a real showpiece and rarer so probably worth more. Plus personally I prefer the Alpha games anyway.

I just played SNES's SF II, SF II Turbo, Super SF II, and SF Alpha 2. I loved only SF II Turbo, and Super SF II. SF II Turbo was almost perfect arcade ported and added four bosses. Super SF II was improving graphic as arcade ported and added new 4 characters.

there's another tiny cord you need to plug that one into in order to plug it in the xbox...you're missing that pieceXbox controller question

Me was looking through me things thee other day and I came upon a Arc the Lad complete collection set of games for the PS1. To my surprise, I must have bought the thing and never gotten around to playing it. Just wondering if its even worth my time or should I just sell the whole thing.Arc the Lad
I really liked the Arc the Lad Collection. They aren't really ''Awesome'' RPGs, but they're good games still. I'd play 'em first, then sell them. :PArc the Lad
i got it a long time ago when it first came out in the USi played the 3rd one first, got pretty far in it (than my file got erased:cry: ) and really enjoyed itplayed and beat the first one and really enjoyed itand i got really close to the end of the 2nd one (i think) and i forgot what to do next than eventually lost interest, but still enjoyed itso what im gettin at is their all really good and worth a play, if you can pull urself away from current gen consoles and games.also, if you do play it its a good idea to play the games in order, and i never played the other games or whatever the collection comes with.
is the game still sealed then if yes you can sell get some money buy new arc of the lad twilight of darkness
Gamestop had Arc the Lad for PS2 for 4.99.

If so I liked the 343 Guilty Spark when you first face the Flood.
