I regret not buying Metal Gear Solid: Tw ...

This should be in my blog but I'll cut out the ranting and be brief. I regret not buying MGS: Twin Snakes because it would be nice to play the updated (graphics) version of the original MGS1 on PSX. I checked on Ebay and used copies were going for $50 and up. Fifty being the lowest price. Brand new copies were going for $100-500. Yes, $500. I was kinda surprised, as I thought they would be cheap. I guess I'm wrong. If you guys get a chance to get this game for a really cheap price, dont hesitate, if you're an MGS fan. It's a very rare game. I regret not buying Metal Gear Solid: Tw ...
From what I hear it is not the version to play. Cutscenes that have Snake doing crazy stuff and lame voice acting plus the controls from MGS2 made it too easy. I never played it but that is the negative stuff I hear.I regret not buying Metal Gear Solid: Tw ...
That's insane. Call a Blockbuster, I've seen them sell for $9.99.
You can still find them at game stores for about $20. It's not that rare.

Having played through all of them, the game is broken and loses everything you loved about the first one. You can switch to first person, like in MGS3, and that makes events like the Revolver Ocelot battle pathetic. I also had an issue (and maybe I'm the only one) playing an MGS game on a controller other than a PS controller. Couple all that with the fact that on an HDTV the graphics aren't all that incredible and you can accept the blocky pixelation of the PSX version better than the smoother but not progressive GC graphics. Trust me, this is a SKIP at $15-$20, and definitely not even worth $50 (especially with today's selection). Just play the PSX version, you'll be happy you did.
Aside from the broken Ocelot fight, I like it better than the PS1 version. Yes, that includes voice acting, controls, music, and even cutscenes.
I have posted a month ago that Konami has re-published MGS:TS and are selling it directly from their web site. Just checked - they show ''out of stock'' again, but they might add another batch in the future. They also sell the gaming manual for it :)
it is a good game and i think you are looking for them in the wrong places...blockbuster looks like a good choice.

Did you play the original MGS when it first came out on the PS1 or did you play the Twin Snakes first? because that may also make a big difference. Thats the only way I can see someone preferring Twin Snakes to MGS is if they never played the original MGS and started off on the Gamcube.

I am, however, a Metal Gear Solid fan, and have been ever since I got a PS1 in 1999 and got Metal Gear Solid in early 2000. I've played and beaten every single canonical Metal Gear game. I completely understand the impact that Metal Gear Solid had when it came out, and it's not the graphics that make it hard for me to play the original-- it's the gameplay enhancements that they added in MGS2.Never once did I say that the voices from MGS were anything but superb. I just prefer the relaxing on the accents, Campbell's different voice intonations, and the new voice for the Ninja. The only voice I felt got worse was Otacon.
rent it
I heard it is rare. I will look for it, though.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who prefers TS's voice acting.

But really, there's no need to play TS if you already played MGS1.

It was Konami's decision to re-record the voices, and they were the ones who told them to ease up on the accents. Mei Ling's lack-of-accent was also seen in SSBB.
Yup, I prefer TS to the original, and it is kind of rare... I got it a couple of months ago...
Got Twin Snakes for about $15 a few months back, just keep looking, it is a great game. Personally, I never played the original MGS so I have nothing to compare it to, but TS is a great game, and I assume the additions help.
