MGS 3 versions

I got Snake Eater years ago and always thought about picking up subsitance for the extras, but never felt like spending the cash to do so. Now ive decided that I definately want it, and there is the MGS collection. While I know that the MGScollection has Subsistence disc 1 and not disc 2, I was wondering if any of the extras are on disk 1 (such as the original MG games). At this point subsitence is selling used for $25 whereas the collection is going for $30. Id spend the extra little bit for the collection since it also comes with the original MGS (I only have Twin Snakes ), but would prefer to get the original two games as well. Also, I already own MGS2, so that is not a selling point. MGS 3 versions
As far as I remember, there's only the theater mode and the new cameraMGS 3 versions
Subsistence plays much, much, much better thanks to the new camera, but the good extras are on disc 2 (the Secret Theater and the classic Metal Gears).
Yeah.. MG1 and MG2 are on the second disk. It's a hard decision, because of MGS1's availability. Guess, if I were in your place, I'd just get subsistance, over the collection.
In reading this I've just realised that I never actually bought a copy of MGS2 for myself. Gotta get a preowned one next time I'm out.

The Collection is the way to go. The MGS 3 in the collection is Subsistance minus the online, shotting ape escape monkeys (lol), and some theatre mode. In the collection you get MGS, MGS 2 + MGS 2 Substance (on the same disc :P), and MGS 3 with the new camera. $29.99 is a steal if you ask me.
I think he means that MG1 and MG2 are only on the 2nd disk of Subsistence, while getting the Essentials Collection is also a good choice considering how much the original MGS1 sells for.
It wasn't a typo.... the OP was asking if he should buy the collection, or just buy MGS3 Subsistance and forget about Metal Gear Solid, since he's already played Twin Snakes on the 'cube. He also specifically asked if Metal Gear 1 and 2 were on disk 1, but they are on Disk 2. And Disk 2 of Subsistance, doesn't come with the collection package. So, there you go...
I think he means that MG1 and MG2 are only on the 2nd disk of Subsistence, while getting the Essentials Collection is also a good choice considering how much the original MGS1 sells for.
Yeah....that's it. It's orginal MGS1 versus MG1 %26 2. Only way to get ahead is just to get both, and then have multiple copies of MGS2 and two disk 1's of MGS3. Good marketing decision for Konami.... bad for us.
Any way to get MGS1 on PS2 apart from in the collection? I already have 2 and 3
Any way to get MGS1 on PS2 apart from in the collection? Before anyone buys the collection, I think they should know (as do I think should be noted somewhere on the packaging) that the copy of MGS1 that comes with the collection is just a repackaging of MGS1. That means that you're going to have to hunt down a PS1 memory card on eBay or in a gaming shop if you intend to play it. Unless you have a 60GB PS3. Then you're golden. I thought the version of MGS1 in the collection was going to be Twin Snakes ported to the PS2; I was disappointed and upset when I found out it was just a repackaged MGS for the PS1.

Not once did they ever imply that it was going to be anything but the PS1 original; Twin Snakes couldn't be ported anyway without Nintendo's permission.

So as I said I decided to get Subsistence. I went to the closest Gamestop that had it in stock and when I got there I noticed that the subsistence they were selling (for $25) was the copy out of the collection, being only disk 1. This seemd really shady since they were selling the collection new for $30. I know the original subsistence may be hard to find, but I think I am going to keep looking.
