The original Zelda, there hasn't even been a game thatcomes close to that. These 3D ones don't count. Descent, was a great game. Never really saw a clone of that. There was a crappy game called Forsaken in the 90's but it didn't match up.
Killer7.Few games come close to matching the caliber of Killer7.
As a fighting game, I'd say Killer Instinct
This is probably one of the most atmospheric games ive ever played in my life. GREAT CHOICE! :)Just walking in that house used to scare the hell out of me...
Realms of the Haunting. An old Interplay First Person Adventure game. It uses real video to tell the story, but the pace and atmosphere of the game have never been copied despite doing a good job of both aspects.
It is more than just a FPS, it has a morrowind / oblivion feel to it, you can interact with the environment and pick / examine alot of things, and it takes place in a huge mansion with parallel universes
dude that game still copied the fact that it's a FPS so doom is original
THere are the Neutopia games, but I think those are pretty much copies.
I remember hearing about this game. A later game called Mist reminds me of this one.
Mine would be either Super mario brothers 3 (just the fact that i can play it forever without getting bored)
But, for the sake of this topic, I will bring up my old favorite game, Xexyz
I've never played anything quite like it. Sure, there may be games that are similar, but nothing to me comes close to this. It's just so unique. Has anyone else played it?
Star tropics or Earthbound
I would have to say the Klonoa series. It's insanely unique it both it's art style and it's gameplay.
No One Can Stop Mr. Domino! (PS1)Thousand Arms (PS1)Yo Noid!'s Pizza eating contest (NES)Katamari Dhamacy (PS2)Jack Bros (NES/SMS/VB)The entire MEGATEN series

-Rocket Jockey
-Magic Carpet 1 and 2
-Mole Mania
I definitely haven't seen many, if any, other games like these.
The Ratchet and clank Series on the PS2 had really unique weapons and gameplay.
The first game series that comes to my mind is the Katamari series. Some others that come to my mind are:
- Pokemon Snap
- Paperboy
- The Trauma Center series
- The Super Smash Bros. series
